About BTCETFCalc
What This Site Does
BTCETFCalc.com provides free, independent tools and educational content for Bitcoin ETF investors. Everything on the site is free to use with no account required.
BTCETFCalc is built and maintained by Dan Oksnevad (@Trollstein).
The core tool is a calculator that converts ETF option strikes and premiums to Bitcoin price equivalents using live BTC-per-share ratios. If you hold IBIT calls at a $60 strike, the calculator tells you exactly what Bitcoin price that implies — instantly, using the current BlackRock ratio.
Beyond the calculator, the site provides historical price data with interactive charts, side-by-side ETF comparisons, per-ETF fact sheets, a performance calculator, a covered call calculator, and in-depth educational articles covering everything from tax treatment to custodial mechanics.
What Makes It Different
The site's distinguishing feature is showing BTC-equivalent values alongside USD prices — a view few other Bitcoin ETF resources publish.
When you look at an IBIT option strike price, the calculator instantly shows you what Bitcoin price that implies. When you compare ETF fees, the site shows you the cost in Bitcoin terms, not just percentages. When you check price history, you see both the ETF share price and the implied BTC value over time.
This BTC-denominated perspective cuts through the abstraction layer that ETF shares create between investors and the underlying asset. ETF shares are just fractional claims on Bitcoin — understanding the conversion ratio is the key to making informed decisions.
The calculator supports eight ETFs — IBIT, FBTC, GBTC, ARKB, BITB, BTC (Grayscale Mini), HODL, and MSBT — with live ratio data calibrated from official fund sources.
Data Sources & Methodology
- Bitcoin price data: Coinbase API (primary), with Kraken, CoinGecko, and Binance as fallbacks
- ETF price data: Finnhub API
- IBIT BTC-per-share ratio: derived from BlackRock iShares official holdings data
- ARKB BTC-per-share ratio: parsed from ARK Invest's daily holdings CSV
- Other ETF ratios: calibrated daily from issuer holdings pages (Grayscale, Bitwise, VanEck) and quarterly SEC filings, carried forward between publications by exact fee-decay
Prices update in real time during market hours; ratios are recalibrated twice each trading day. The live calculators display each ETF's ratio timestamp so users can verify data freshness.
BTCETFCalc is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by BlackRock, Fidelity, Grayscale, 21Shares, ARK Invest, Bitwise, VanEck, Morgan Stanley, or any ETF issuer.
